Read books cover to buy the book when I first saw `Blue ladder` as the title knew it was a calm and warm story. But I read the book, I thought the internal conflict and external conflict, as opposed significantly the growth of exposed children was a novel. Information than I thought was interesting. Live in the countryside, the court moved to a nearby shantytown hero longing for home, friends at school in Seoul was unable to adapt to wander. 책을 읽어보기 위해 사서 책의 표지를 처음 봤을 때 ‘Blue ladder’ 라는 제목이 평온하고 따스한 이야기인줄 알았다. 하지만 책을 읽어보니, 내가 생각했던 것과는 달리 내적갈등과 외적갈등이 두드러지게 드러나는 청소년의 성장 소설이었다. 생각보다 재미있는 내용이었다.
시골에서 살다가 법원근처의 빈민촌으로 이사 온 hero는 고향의 친구들을 그리워하며 서울의 학교에 적응을 못하고 방황하였다. hero 수업에 집중을 못하게 되고 그런 hero에게 Homeroom teacher는 가정방문을 하겠다는 말을 한다. 이 말에 hero는 학교를 결석하게 되고 그것이 가출까지 이어진다. 나는 이때 hero가 한번만 더 생각하고 행동했더라면 가출까지 하지 않았을 것이라고 생각한다. Pilferage를 하는 불량한 청소년들의 모임에 붙잡힌 hero는 원하지 않는 도둑질과 싸움을 하게 된다. 나는 hero가 정말 불쌍했다. 갑자기 가출을 해서 그런 불량청소년들에게 잡혀서 불량청소년이 되었기 때문이다. hero를 찾아다니던 어머니가 결국 hero를 집으로 데려오게 된다. 나는 hero엄마가 hero를 위해 노력하는 모습에 감동을 받았다. hero가 중학생이 되자 그 불량청소년들은 또 다시 hero를 끌어들인다. hero는 또 도둑질을 하게 되어 경찰에게 붙잡혔다. 그런데 경찰서에서 hero가 특수절도를 한 것이 발각되어 소년원에 가게 되었다. hero는 한 달 동안 소년원에서 생활을 하면서 자유라는 것과 자신에 대해 돌아보게 된다. hero는 어머니의 헌신적인 사랑 때문에 그는 집으로 돌아오게 된다. 하지만 소년원에서 빠져나와도 그에게는 역시나 힘든 환경이었다. 왜냐하면 비닐하우스가 위기를 맞게 되었기 때문이다. 철거를 하는 사람들에게 시위를 하다가 다리를 다친 아버지는 결국 적은 돈이나마 보상을 받고 이사를 가게 되었다. 나는 비닐하우스 마을의 사람들이 매우 불쌍하게 여겨졌다. 그래도 모여 살며 친하게 지내게 되었는데 이제 헤어져야 하기 때문이다. hero의 가족은 4층짜리 허름한 상가 건물의 옥탑 방에 이사를 갔다. 이사하던 날 hero의 친구들이 놀러온다. 그의 친구들은 hero에게 ‘ladder club’ 라고 놀린다. hero는 친구들이 한 말을 생각하며 튼튼한 Blue ladder가 될 거라고 굳게 다짐했다. 나는 책의 부분에 친구들이 hero에게 한 말이 특히 인상적이었다. 그 말이 hero에게 희망과 용기를 주었기 때문이다. 나도 언제나 꿈을 잃지 않고 그 꿈을 향해 Blue ladder를 타고 한 발짝 한 발짝 올라가야겠다고 생각했다. 마지막으로, 이 책은 내 삶을 한번 돌이켜보게 하였고 이후 나의 삶을 계획하는데 큰 도움이 되었다.
